Wallpaper!

It's spring and your thinking about renewing a particular room in your home. Perhaps the dining room needs a fresh coat of paint.. or the living room has seen a bit too much living...or the foyer needs a little something-something. So you look in some of your favorite design books and think --- WALLPAPER! But. What if you don't like it after it's on the wall? Maybe painting is a better choice. NO! You can still have wallpaper... that is removable! Yep, removable wallpaper from Hygge & West.

Here are a few examples of the wallpaper tile that will make decorating more fun than ever...

Met Gala 2013

Last night the annual Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (aka the Met Gala) was held in New York City. Dubbed the "Prom of the Fashion World", this year's theme was PUNK: Chaos to Couture.

Each year, celebrities are invited to the Met Gala to celebrate fashion and are dressed to the nines! Even without the punk theme, the gowns are over-the-top gorgeous. This is not the event for understatement. With this years punk theme, many of the attendees took full advantage and played up the punk theme. Of course, others missed the mark.

Here are three of my favorite punk looks from the Met Gala 2013 (in no particular order):

Miley Cyrus in Marc Jacobs and Eddie Borgo jewelry

Nicole Richie in Topshop Unique, vintage Francesca Pepe ring, and House of Harlow 1960 clutch

Sienna Miller in Burberry Prorsum, Genevieve Jones ear cuff, and Eddie Borgo tiara

To see all the fabulous (as well as the what-were-they-thinking) looks, click here.

As in previous years, Vogue.com has the video of all the arrivals here.

Handbag Love

I admit... I love handbags/purses/carryalls.. whatever you prefer to call them. To me, they are purses, and my passion. One of the best gifts I received is a day-at-a-time calendar that featured purses. Every day I get to see some of the most beautiful and amazing handbags. But not just current handbags... nope, the pictures encompass every era, from the 1890's to current day.

Not only are the pictures gorgeous, but I learned that there is a handbag museum! The Sackrider Museum of Handbags is a virtual online museum that is "dedicated to collecting, interpreting, educating, preserving, and presenting a unique and diverse history of handbags to the public." What they don't mention is that the pictures are glorious, the stories are fascinating, and you can surf for days and still be enthralled.

Did I mention I love purses!?!?!

Sneakers

One of my favorite bloggers is Garance Dore. She has the most amazing blog, where she shares her photos, videos and illustrations.

On her blog today she is talking about sneakers! I never really thought alot about sneakers, but I am now! I guess I'm a bit conflicted... I like a high top, but nothing beats a nice sleak sneaker. Look here for more thoughts on sneakers.

The color of the season... Green!

Green is the color of the spring! From the grass turning from brown to a lush green to the latest
fashions, green is everywhere. With so many shades and nuances of green, many of us shy away from full on green yet we want to be fashionable. That's where accessories come into play. I love green but am not quite ready for a green suit... so I found these beautiful Isaac Mizrahi scraves. One of them is in a stunning floral pattern and the other is a gorgeous stripe. Check them out here. They are fabulous, light weight, and perfect way to wear green.

Treat yourself to something delicious... Yonana!

Do you like ice cream? Do you like ice cream but are a bit lactose intolerant? Do you like ice cream but want to eat healthy? Then I have the best thing for you...

Yonanas Ice Cream Treat Maker...

But it's not ice cream. Crazy, I know! My niece turned me onto this amazing little gadget. It's a frozen treat made from frozen fruit... no milk or cream is used.

How does it work? So glad you asked...

You freeze bananas as well as other fruit. You can use pre-frozen fruit or fresh fruit that is frozen. You put a whole frozen banana into the machine, then add other frozen fruit and... Voila... a frozen treat that tastes just like ice cream. Only better. And remember... no cream or milk or preservatives are used. Only frozen fruit! Yum! You'll love it, your friends will love it, and any kids in your life will love it.

Welcome to the Finer Things for Us

Ah… the finer things in life. Don’t we all deserve them? Absolutely! The finer things in life don’t have to be expensive… you’ll find that they fit into your budget and your life (and lifestyle). They range from a cup of Earl Grey tea on a Saturday afternoon watching the geese with a good friend to getting an “I love you” from a 6 year old great-niece to a handbag that makes you gasp with pleasure.

We are excited to start this journey with you. It is a culmination of a dream that has been percolating for many years. We look forward to talking to you, learning with you, and discovering the finer things for all of us.
