I love J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. It is a majestic book that created the most amazing movie trilogy EVER!

Tolkien was a linguist, farmer, and WWI survivor. His experiences as a solider in WWI had a deep and lasting impact on him, and it strengthen his Humanistic approach to life.

January 31st marks the beginning of Chinese New Year. This year rings in the Year of the Horse, but it's marked this time by considerable fire, according to feng shui experts. This could bring startling changes for the world, they say. Well... should be another interesting year!

Who knew there was a national "Clean Off Your Desk Day"!?  So I did (clean off my desk, that is). Here are three things that I found...

1. A note from my niece that I had forgotten about (yes, a real handwritten note that came through the U.S. mail).

3. A lovely Hershey Kiss still in the wrapper.
